Meet Professor Neelima Gupta, a distinguished medical professional serving as the Director Professor and Head of the Department of Otorhinolaryngology at the University College of Medical Sciences and GTB Hospital, University of Delhi.

With an impressive academic background including MBBS, MS, DNB and MNAMS, Professor Gupta’s expertise in Otorhinolaryngology is well-established. She has been an integral part of the medical field, contributing significantly to patient care, research, and education.

Professor Gupta’s journey includes pivotal roles such as Senior Resident at GTB Hospital, Delhi, and Faculty at UCMS and GTB Hospital, Delhi, where she currently serves as the Head of the Department of ENT. Her leadership has been instrumental in enhancing the department’s capabilities and fostering a conducive learning environment.

Recognized for her contributions, Professor Gupta was awarded the BOYSCAST Fellowship by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, facilitating advanced research in “Chemosensory Research” at the University of Dresden Medical School, Germany. She utilised the fellowship by conducting advanced research in the area of Smell and Taste.

As a dedicated academician, Professor Gupta has been actively involved in guiding postgraduate students in their thesis work, with emphasis on basic and clinical research. She has utilised intramural grants for the thesis work for her postgraduate students. Her PhD co-supervision for a PhD student in Microbiology demonstrates her multidisciplinary and collaborative approach to healthcare.

Professor Gupta’s areas of interest span Rhinology, Allergy and Immunology, Air and Noise pollution’s effects on health, and Chronic Rhinosinusitis. Her commitment to advancing medical knowledge and providing personalized patient care reflects a career marked by excellence.

Biography

FELLOWSHIPS

  • Awarded the BOYSCAST Fellowship 2010-2011 by The Government of India; funded by the Department of Science and Technology. The fellowship was awarded in the area of “Chemosensory Research”, utilized by going to a highly advanced Smell and Taste Clinic in the University of Dresden Medical School, Dresden, Germany; from 22nd July 2011 to 21st October 2011.
  • Was awarded the Fellowship Allergy Asthma & Immunology (FAAI) by International Asthma Services, Colorado, USA and Post Graduate Institute Of Medical Education & Research. , Chandigarh, India from June 2022 to June 2023.

  • Investigator in a clinical drug trial- “An open, comparative, randomized post marketing surveillance of Cephalexin extended release tablets (two tablets of 750mg, OD) versus Cephalexin conventional release capsules(500mg TDS) in ENT infections, upper respiratory tract infections, acute exacerbation of bronchitis and skin and soft tissue infections.(Sponsored by Lupin Limited and carried out by Apothecaries)
